Lisbon, Portugal, 10. November – Die World e-Cigarette Users Alliance (WVA), a global e-cigarette rights organization, has proposed a 7-step plan to the Portuguese government, to address the problem of tobacco consumption.
In the context of the next update of the European Tobacco Products Directive and the implementation of the Portuguese anti-cancer program (ENLCC), which aims to define strategies to combat tobacco consumption in Portugal, have the WVA and its Portuguese partners Associação Portuguesa de Vaporizadores (APORVAP) and Ohms do Vapor made a series of recommendations to policymakers, to advance harm reduction as part of the Portuguese strategy to combat cancer.
The 7-step plan includes recommendations for
1.Portugal has clearly committed, reduce the harm caused by tobacco.
2.Promoting e-cigarettes as a smoking cessation tool.
3.Exclusion of e-cigarettes from smoke-free zone restrictions.
4.Avoid higher taxes on e-cigarette products and reduce excessive taxes on liquids for these products as quickly as possible.
5.Reject the ban on flavors and do not limit the choice of nicotine content in liquids.
6.Make e-cigarettes accessible to adults while introducing age restrictions, to prevent consumption by minors.
7.Promoting tobacco harm reduction in EU institutions and legislation.
